PC World, at Mallard Road Retail Park, enjoyed a memorable weekend of sales after the arrival of Apple Mac's pioneering i-Pad.
When the shop opened at 9am on Friday 28th customers were waiting eagerly to see, trial and purchase the new 'slate' product.
The first unit was sold by 0915 and the shop had completely sold out of over 50 units by Sunday morning.
PC World had the i-Pad as an exclusive in Bournemouth and stocks six models including 16, 32 and 64 gig slates that were also available in 3-G.
General manager Brian Hauston said: "We have been so excited by the arrival of the i-Pad, there isn't another product like it and the reaction that it received from PC World customers was unbelievable. We had three demo stations in operation and on Saturday there actually were cues for trials almost to the door - the units, which are 11" long with a 9.5" high res LED back-lit touch-screen include built in wireless - perfect for keeping in touch with the news on the Daily Echo web site!
"This is undoubtedly the most impressive product we have had in a long time and we’ll be getting in more stock in all the time to keep up with demand." |
